This site is one page about our bar. Here is everything it records, and who else sees anything when you visit.

Analytics, only if you say yes
The first time you visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks whether we may count your visit with Google Analytics. Nothing is loaded from Google Analytics and no cookie is set unless you press Accept analytics. If you press Reject, or don’t choose, nothing is sent and the site works exactly the same.
If you accept, Google Analytics records which pages you look at, how you arrived (the site or search that sent you), roughly where you are (the town or region, worked out from your internet address, which Google does not keep), the kind of device and browser you use, how long you stay, how far down the page you scroll and which links to other sites you follow. It also records taps on our phone number and on the Directions links, so we can see whether the site helps people find us. It never records anything you type.
It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_CW985Z3R4W, which last up to two years and let it tell a returning visitor from a new one.
We use this only to see which parts of the site people use. It is not used for advertising: Google signals, data sharing with Google and every advertising feature are switched off, and advertising consent is never asked for. Google keeps the records for 14 months and then deletes them.
Google processes the data for us, and may do so outside the UK; Google’s terms for Analytics cover that. The legal basis is your consent, under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations for the cookies and UK GDPR article 6(1)(a) for the rest.
Changing your mind: the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page brings the choice back. Choosing Reject stops anything more being recorded and deletes the Analytics cookies.
Your choice itself is kept in your browser’s local storage, as one word, granted or denied. It is not a cookie and it is never sent anywhere.
The map
The map in the Find us section comes from Google Maps. It only loads when you press Show the map, and from then on Google’s own privacy policy applies, including any cookies Google sets. The Directions links open Google Maps in a new tab, again only when you press one.
Everything else
- Hosting. The site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub sees your internet address when your browser asks for a page, and keeps it in its logs for security. GitHub’s privacy statement covers that.
- Fonts. The typefaces come from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google’s servers, which see your internet address. Google’s privacy policy covers that.
- Social links. The Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Tripadvisor links take you to those sites, under their own privacy policies. Nothing from them is embedded here.
- No forms. There are no forms, accounts, bookings or payments on this site. If you email us, we use your message and address to reply.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or object to it, by emailing northstreet7@yahoo.com. Analytics records carry no name. If you are unhappy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
